The book centres around a family reunion in Paris, for the 70th birthday of Paul Malegarde.
But Paris is flooding, the Seine is about to burst its banks, and the family are facing a crisis of their own; Paul suffers a stroke and is taken to hospital. As the natural disaster worsens, long-kept secrets come to the surface, including that of Paul’s son Linden, who has never been able to tell his father that he is gay.
