Maryse Condé has received well-deserved recognition with this year’s alternative to the Nobel Prize for Literature, the New Academy Prize, an accolade that has been officially awarded to her at the ceremony on December 9 in Stockholm. We will be publishing two of her novels in English: Waiting for the Water to Rise and her latest novel, The Fabulous and Unfortunate Fate of Ivan and Ivana. The English translations by Richard Philcox are set to be published in Fall 2019 and Fall 2020 respectively.
