The Interviews with Marsha Lederman & Jaap Robben at Vancouver Writers Festival

November 12, 2018 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm PST

The Interviews with Marsha Lederman

Esi Edugyan, Rachel Giese, Jaap Robben

It’s amazing the answers you’ll get if you ask the right questions. Marsha Lederman, Western Arts Correspondent for The Globe and Mail, knows this all too well, searching out emotional truths, intellectual discoveries or simply a new favourite anecdote. Now, she separately interviews three of the most talked-about writers on our roster. Esi Edugyan won the Scotiabank Giller Prize for Half-Blood Blues. Her latest, Washington Black, longlisted for the Man Booker Prize, “teems with the mystery of life” as it follows a fleeing eleven-year-old slave. Rachel Giese’s award-winning writing has featured in Canada’s top publications. Her presentation on the damaging impact of toxic masculinity in Boys is revelatory. Jaap Robben is a multitalented Dutch poet, novelist and playwright whose novel, You Have Me to Love, is a favourite amongst European booksellers.

This program is supported by the Dutch Literature Foundation and as a part of the Dutch Culture USA program by the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York.
