Paolo Maurensig (1943–2021) was an Italian bestselling author born in Gorizo, Italy. He debuted in 1993 with The Lüneburg Variation, translated into over twenty languages. His novels include Canone Inverso, The Guardian of Dreams, and The Archangel of Chess. For his novel Theory of Shadows, he won the Bagutta Prize. A Devil Comes to Town was a finalist for the 39th Northern Californian Book Awards in 2020. Game of the Gods was awarded the prestigious Scanno Literary Award 2019.
