A Devil Comes to Town is a NCBA Finalist

A Devil Comes to Town, by Paolo Maurensig and translated from the Italian by Anne Milano Appel, has been nominated for the Northern California Book Award for fiction in translation as one of the best works by a northern California author published in 2019.

There will be an online awards ceremony, hosted by the San Francisco Public Library, on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 2 pm Pacific time.

From the Northern California Book Reviewers:

There will be online book sale links available during the event; sales will benefit Friends of the San Francisco Public Library.

Audience registration for the Northern California Book Awards ceremony is free and open to the public. We look forward to celebrating all of the selected books and authors, and to publicizing the nominee list as our NCBR recommended reading list. Our past “live, in-person” event has drawn an enthusiastic audience to celebrate northern California books and writers. We hope that this year’s online event will do the same.

The Northern California Book Awards were established by the Northern California Book Reviewers in 1981, to honor the work of northern California writers and to recognize exceptional service in the field of literature. The Northern California Book Awards are presented by the Northern California Book Reviewers, Poetry Flash, Friends of the San Francisco Public Library, and San Francisco Public Library, with our community sponsors, the Women’s National Book Association-San Francisco Chapter, Mechanics’ Institute Library, and PEN West.
